Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Cluster
in the Marothocampos region
Bioenersis
CADIC transfer partner Bioenersis was founded in 2009 on Samos Island, Greece. Its business activities integrate:
- Organizing Events with local SMEs,
- Training & Development
- Group facilitation and Counselling
In 2011 and 2012, Bioenersis successfully stimulated the development of a cluster of SMEs supporting tourism and local development in the islands of Fourni and Corseon, finding and profiting from collaborative advantage through a bottom-up approach informed by the CADIC methodology.
Bioenersis’ cluster formation process is based on the need of SMEs for the realisation of a series of events. These events were originally thought of and designed in order to sustain and promote a regional area and hence, its businesses, and to establish the notion of joint actions in the local market, which triggered the concept of bottom-up clustering.

Clustering goals for the future
From now on, Bioenersis is working to expand the SME cluster to include other areas of the Marothocampos region, including Amfilissos, and other sectors of commerce, such as media and printing, professionals in the areas of movie production and of construction, and NGOs specialised in natural environment protection and sustainability.
