Fundamentally, historical provenance search is anchored in the past. It enables us to explore entity, agent and activity provenance that existed” that is found there.
However, in this historical context, there is no opportunity for anticipating and improving the actual provenance of these entity agents, and activities or of the transactions in which they were involved.
Live Provenance is a search process that reveals the “live” (historical plus present activity) provenance context within and beyond the ecosystem where it addresses participants’ activities. Within the Anam Cara Counselling ecosystem, these activities involve the creation and documentation in Rich Audio-visual language of stories about the contexts, communities of Practice, transaction episodes and voyages involved. This exploration process also serves to detail and enhance the provenance of the agents participating in these activities.
A Live provenance search may be continued through the material referenced in the transaction record at this location in the provenance tapestry. This material includes:
 
·       Stories relating to the particular Agents and Communities of Practice engaged in an Activity of interest to the explorer.
·       Stories expressed as interpretive material in various kinds of media that address “How” and “Why” for a particular Activity.
·       Stories relating to the enactment of the Activity in the first place and its consequences.

 The Anam Cara Counselling platform provides comprehensive support for exploring, authenticating and improving the provenance of information about Entities, Agents (Anam cara counselling mentors and communities of practice.) and Activities (Anam Cara Counselling transaction episodes and voyages).

 Within the Anam Cara Provenance Creator App, each search involved in exploring and authenticating the provenance associated with an is anchored on that agent, entity or activity record, as constructed within the App. As shown in the figure below, starting from the stored transaction records, the provenance search may be extended through all the transactions made within the Anam Cara Counselling ecosystem that are linked together within the provenance tapestry when accessing information regarding the Entities, Agents, Communities of Practice, Transaction episodes and Voyages involved.

 Then, for further investigation of provenance issues relating to, and anchored on a particular transaction discovered to be of interest to the explorer, the search may be continued through the material in the Anam Cara Provenance Creator App’s MariaDB database that is pertinent in the transaction record at in the provenance tapestry. This material includes Audiovisual Stories expressed as interpretive material in various kinds of media, allowing exploration in Rich Audio-visual language Humphreys and Brézillon 2002)

 
Within the Anam Cara Provenance Creation platform, provenance exploration searches proceed “inside–out” (i.e., outwards from the transaction records shown at the centre in the diagram shown above). Here the provenance explorer may immediately access the detailed profile for an individual transaction of interest and the agents and product entities involved in it. Provenance exploration searches may also be continued, at any time, through material on the whole World Wide Web starting from URLs referenced in the Transaction, Entity and Agent Profiles, stored in the Provence Creator App’s MariaDB database.
